Impressive Legacy

ECHO® equipment has a unique legacy. The first piece of equipment to bear the ECHO name, the CS-80 model chainsaw, was first introduced in 1963. ECHO’s parent company, the Yamabiko Corporation, opened a facility in Northbrook, Illinois around 1972. Parts were manufactured in Japan and then sent out to the US facility for the actual assembly. ECHO soon expanded its product line by introducing the world's first backpack blower in 1975 followed by the world's first handheld blower in 1978.

More than five decades later, ECHO® equipment is still assembled in the Northbrook facility using parts manufactured in Japan. Of course, the facility itself has expanded greatly in that time. The ECHO brand has expanded as well, partnering with major retailers and distributors to help get its models in the hands of consumers everywhere. Recently, the company has made strides in advancing two-stroke engine technology in order to make equipment that is more lightweight without sacrificing power.
